True Truth Truthfully

I believe truth not to be a thing but an attitude born out of an emotional reaction. One of the most painful experiences in life is being lied to, more specifically, being duped.

It is such a degrading feeling, which leaves us feeling diminished in our own eyes, and if there are witnesses to our duping, fills us with shame and diminishes us in other people's eyes. I think that it is out of this feeling of being duped that the desire for truth is born, for what is truth if not the cry 'do not deceive me?' Later, as time went by, someone got it into his head (Plato) that reality had to be pleasant for human beings in order to be real, and the fact that it was not created in this person the feeling that reality was duping him. From this was born the notion of the "Truth," which essentially meant that all of reality was a lie, since it is rarely pleasant. The irony of this, of course, is that now truth has become a deceiver since it has attached itself to a weak state of emotionality. And this is the point I want to make: we are emotional beings and it is the quality of our emotions that determine whether we see reality or a fiction of our own making, for it is our emotions which clamor not to be deceived. But which emotions are the ones clamoring will make the difference of what "truth" we actually see.
