Finding answers to ancient questions, there is joy in this, but also damnation.

My Writing Secret

The real secret of writing is asking questions. So, alright, you have someone entering a building. Full stop. Time to ask questions. Who is entering the building? What age? What gender? What clothing is this person wearing? What are this person’s beliefs and values? What’s this person’s name and appearance? What is the building this person is entering and why is this person there? What are this person’s goals? What does this person want? These are just some of the questions I ask. There are many more that can be asked, such as about the time of day, the weather, the character’s background and employment. This is the method that works for me. When I get stuck in any part of my story, I ask a question.
